As much as I adore mostly small, kooky, or unusual bands, I certainly don't lose interest when they become popular. In fact popularity often means that these bands are able to produce more music, which makes me enjoy them more. Now if they change their entire style or something that may change things, but generally I like a band for what they are, rather than for their popularity or lack thereof.
