You Have a Melancholic Temperament

Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything.

I want to recover my files… gah!

So the result of my computer being 'fixed' and running Windows XP is that all my precious irreplaceable files are inaccessible or deleted or worse. I want them back… so I ran a scan of my system, unfortunately pressed the wrong button and would be stuck redoing the process. Then I realize that the program my brother installed to get this to work was a demo version, and not a full version, so I can't even restore my files anyway, so what's the point? They're apparently pretty much lost to me now… as much as I truly want/need them. So frustrating… not to mention the fact that I'm supposed to recover the files to another drive, not the one that I'm currently using to recover these files, yet I don't have another drive to recover them to!

*grumble grumble*

I rather want my ol' files back again. My writing and my photos are pretty irreplaceable to me, and there are a few CKI files I rather want the updated copies of, which were located on my computer. Can anyone help me with this?

Ten things…

10 things you will (probably) not actually say to the people they are meant for meme

1. I really wish I could actually talk to you, telling you exactly how I feel about things, anything really, and know that you'd really understand me. It's so hard always feeling this distance — I know we're different, and I appreciate that, but it would be so much easier.

2. There are few people in this world that I love and respect as much as I do you. Thank you very much for everything, from the little tiniest moments in the past to all the adventures I hope that we'll have the opportunity to share in the future. I hope to be able to help you when you need help, the least I could do with all that you've done for me.

3. Do you realize just how hard it is to have been such a good friend with you for so much time when we were younger and to not see you anymore, knowing that many of my new aquaintances do not regard you nearly as well as I still think of you. I still consider you a good friend as much as we almost never cross paths.

4. Why does it seem as if you're always avoiding me? I realize that you're only an aquaintance, or distant friend, but it's been unbelievably long and I'd enjoy seeing you sometimes even if it's only to say 'hi' in the street.

5. I really wish I could remember your name. As much as I was never a huge fan of you, it is rather embarrasing to only ever be able to think and refer to you with a stupid, insulting nickname since I can't remember your actual moniker.

6. Do you realize just how frustrated I am that my work disappears so quickly in the mire of time? I wish I got the same respect that others got in the same position, especially from you who could have done something about it.

7. You and your bravery are such an inspiration to me. I find your example so heartening, even if I have no desire to do the very same things as you, even if you are imperfect, even if you've had to deal with things I'd rather never see or feel.

8. I wish I had a phone number for you. You're always so far away and as much as computer communication rocks, I'd love to chat again sometime. It feels like ages have passed.

9. I bet you don't realize just how frustrating it is to watch you: knowing that yes you have to make your own mistakes, have your own motivations and do your own thing, but to watch you spin your wheels (or stall even) and not get anywhere is not pleasant in the least. I want to see you succeed!

10. Even though you're nowhere near perfect, hearing from you and your spirited personality is so helpful in inspiring me to get off my tush and do something semi-productive in my own little realm, thank you!

Back from Margy and Morgan's wedding

So I went to one of the most enjoyable occasions I've had the pleasure to attend in quite some time this weekend. Two of the most amazing individuals I have had the pleasure to befriend were married this weekend, and boy did they both look stunning all gussied up in formal wear. The pit roast beforehand was great fun, as was the pancake breakfast the morning after. The whole weekend was great and made me mentally plan to visit again sometime in the future… sure it's Saskatchewan, a fair trek away, but their family was great, the area a good escape, and Shady Vale would be an excellent location for a retreat away from the everyday.

I danced a bit, enjoyed some great non-alcoholic champagne, listened to the AWESOME tunes of Shifty Morgan (the awesome live country band!), and generally had a great time… who wouldn't? There were fireworks, great food, awesome cake, chats with a bunch of great friends that I missed terribly, chats with people I'd never met before (including CKI alums)…

I was happier this weekend than in a long long time. Stress lifted from my shoulders.

Now if only my files would get ressurected… *sighs*

Tarot card meme from Jackie

You Are Strength

You represent both fiery energy and steadfast will.
You are innocent and naive – yet unafraid and undaunted.
Perhaps you don't have the most powerful physical strength…
But your mental powers make up for any amount of muscle.

Your fortune:

Lately, you have been a pillar of ethics and moral strength.
And while things may be difficult, your faith in yourself will come through.
You may need to conquer the animalistic nature of yourself or others, with gentle force.
Although this may seem like the darkest hour for you, victory is near.

I wish it were true. or rather I hope that it is true. *sighs*

I know enough to not tell everyone everything

But I don't know who to talk to about some things. And I want to talk to someone. Because I'm worried and wondering about certain aspects of certain things lately. It's weird to say the least.

But LJ isn't the right forum for conversation. As much as I'm glad to have LJ to read now, it doesn't help my peace of mind.

And you know what? I've been craving playing frisbee more than anything… I wonder if anyone would be into playing sometime when I'm not working or out of town (etc.). It was afterall one of the things I REALLY wanted to do on my birthday which of course never happened.

As for my birthday, many thanks to those who attended. Sorry if I wasn't nearly as cheery as I perhaps should have been. Settlers was great fun, as was seeing each and every one of you who attended.

Now before I start letting my outlook tarnish all your happy sunny smiles, I'm going to get some other things done before work today… and maybe finish forcing myself to eat something.

Yes, my computer's working — but I need my files!

So I've got my computer up and running yet again… but my irreplaceable files are well at least temporarily lost. I'm trying to recover them but it's going to take forever… *sighs* and to think that the problem with the computer was actually just a simple one. At least the computer is running nice and smoothly now. I just have to make sure not to crash it while I wait for the program to go and find all the files and then sort through the mess and figure out what I wanna keep… if any of it is actually salvagable.
