Happy Halloween!

Today I'll haunt you as a vampire! 🙂 It's All Hallow's Eve… time to haunt!

My

What are YOU for Halloween this year?

Catch me at work from 2:30-10:30PM today if you wanna see me in costume!

Slowly getting stuff done…

Clutter clutter everywhere… when will the maddness stop?

I never do explain to people how I do my cleaning without receiving the oddest of looks. You see, I clean in a very non-traditional manner, and yet follow the lead (however unwillingly) of my mother's cleaning style. Essentially I like to clean when I get the impulse (I know, I know, impulse cleaning… probably better than impulse buying though!). Which means that I'll get the impulse to sweep an area, or organize papers, or take out the trash or something. However, I tend to get the impulse to do the task that (while it needs doing) isn't the most pressing at the particular time usually.

This is probably why things don't get cleaned when I really ought to have done this or that task. But on the otherhand, the carry-overs from my mother's teaching me how do do these tasks, are why oftentimes when I DO do them, they get done well. Or at least to my satisfaction, however much additional work this costs me. Now why I'm putting my little head in a tizzy about domestic matters when I REALLY ought to be brainstorming a better Halloween costume idea (and I DO have another several ideas… just trying to figure out which to use), or writing a dramatic monologue in blank verse, or doing some reading, or creating a powerpoint presentation, is beyond me… but I guess my own clutter can be frustrating at times. At least I'm getting things done! 🙂

In other news, the quiz that Anastasia completed interested me… so here's my result! 🙂

Where's my motivation?

So I'm incredibly tired still. My throat still hurts (remarkably after quite a long while. Annoying, yet of course I can manage. I don't know what I'm going to wear for Halloween at this stage, although I'll figure out something for work purposes. I'm looking forward to the time change I guess because MAYBE I'll get some extra sleep. I'm not being nearly as productive as I really ought to be with relation to both CKI and school stuff… not to mention keeping my apt cleaner. Why? Probably 'cause I still feel horribly rundown. Lots to do still of course.

On the bright side, while I may be watching a LOT of Boob tube these days, I am knitting again… and so MAYBE sometime I'll finish knitting the scarf that I've been knitting on and off for 4ish years. However likely that may be, I don't honestly know however.

I don't know why 8 hrs of sleep no longer feels like enough. It's really annoying because I feel like I'm pampering myself with 8hrs of sleep every night, and yet I never awake well rested anymore. Annoying to say the least.

I'm loving the CKUA pledge campaign. They play the best music this time of year. So that pleases me reasonably. And I'm sort of on track with my readings for class (although not perhaps quite so much when it comes to the essays I OUGHT to be working on). As for CKI there's a couple things I'm not necessarily getting done quite as well as I would hope, mostly 'cause I'm simply too tired… not that that's a good excuse or anything… I just need something to motivate me to get off my tush and do more (not that I'm not already doing a lot…). In any case, it's been an odd week.

Another plus: I caught up with some friends this week that I hadn't seen in ages. Some by chance so that felt grand. I really ought to see more of people. People are what makes me happy afterall! 🙂

Monday morning musings :)

So it's Monday morning, and no one answers the phone… well that's not exactly correct, but when calling specific people whom I expect to reach, I'm always disappointed when they do not answer. Not that this is an unusual occurrence however.
Today I have to do a presentation for my poetry writing class on George Bowering's Allophanes. This should be interesting. Especially since my throat has still been slightly annoying at times. Not that I entirely mind, but it would be easier if my throat wasn't playing games with me, really.
Another great thing is that I'm finally writing again, letters that is. Not many, but I'm slowly catching up on a bit of the necessary writing that I ought to have been doing anyway. My wax seal is fun to play with (thanks Kim!), and my stickers are of course still a joy. It's been a good and relaxing weekend: I even cleaned the oven (well sort of anyway. Still a lot of cleaning to get done, but no complaints there. Now if only things would work out a lot more pleasantly more often… Oh well, I ought not to be complaining, since life is going just perfectly, even though I'm not getting perhaps quite enough homework and CKI work done.
Oh! And I'm back to knitting whilst watching television. I ought to do more of this, as it keeps me productive yet, relaxed. I need to redevelop those knitting calluses anyway! 🙂
Gosh it's going to be a GREAT day! 🙂

Random reflections…

So it feels good just to veg out. Not that I really have the time for vegging, but I think I rather need it mentally and physically on occasion, and thus I indulge myself rather regularly. Right now for example I'm procrastinating homework by typing in my LJ, surfing the internet and generally listening to great music (CKUA rocks!! Especially during their semi-annual fundraiser, where they play the bestest songs!).
Yesterday was great: it was wonderful to see Kim again, not to mention have some yummy food, and see a great movie. Yes, I finally caught Shall We Dance? at the theatre. I was quite happy to see it, especially since it was considerably better than I'd expected… I was laughing quite a bit, and smiling with a rather great grin in the movie theatre.
Even spending the evening playing board games and watching TV was enjoyable. Perhaps I could have been doing homework or CKI stuff, but really it was worthwhile to relax.

Gilmore Girls and Kiwanis??!? cool stuff!

I was watching Gilmore Girls (currently am I suppose)… and I noticed that the Selectman (Jackson) had to go to a Kiwanis meeting! I thought it was rather cool that one of my favorite tv shows mention Kiwanis. Always good to have Kiwanis' name out in the media! I wonder where else Kiwanis' name shows up these days…
And yes, I'm watching a rather lot of television as of late. Back to categorizing personal ads and watching TV with me I suppose. Maybe I'll even write a poem or something too… we'll see! 🙂
In other news, I loved seeing the kids at our after school program today. It has been such a long time, but I so enjoy all the CKI volunteer work I get to do! Gotta love the Kiwanis family!!

Voice… *sighs*

It's been a busy, but good week.
Only problem is that I lost my voice… and can't seem to find it (sorry for the bad pun but really!).
And it's very frustrating not to be able to participate in class, talk to people etc.
So I'm working to feel better. And that takes effort.
But I don't have too many plans to worry about for the weekend… and hopefully that means I'll get some school work done. And some CKI stuff as well.
It'll be good to get stuff done I believe.
Also, I'm working 8 hrs on halloween night… so I'm looking forward to being able to dress up!

Sore neck, now sore throat, tired, happy, and home!

Hi All!
So, for the past week, I've had a sore neck. Which is a real pain, if you know what I mean! But now I feel really under the weather. My throat hurts for example. This is a real annoyance. While I got over 8 hrs of sleep last night, I'm still exhausted, which also doesn't help. I don't wanna read my poem out loud for class today either, since it will hurt to talk most likely.
But asides from that I'm all good. Less productive then I well should be, yet I'm pretty pleased overall. Most of my homework got done on plane flights and layovers. Utah was a good experience overall, and I truly had an enjoyable time at SPLAT!
Utah? Yes, I went to Utah! Flying into Salt Lake on Friday was entertaining, United Express/Skyservice is ALWAYS early (odd for an airline!), which makes for a longer layover sometimes (and an early arrival home yesterday). I was picked up at the airport after a bit of time, and we went to downtown Salt Lake City (which has some really great architecture!) for some yummy lunch.
After an adventurous drive north, we arrived at USU (Utah State University) where I would spend the weekend. A VERY successful and enjoyable weekend overall, I am VERY pleased with my entire trip/weekend.
Now if only I could convince my body not to be sick and get my homework done, all would be good, right?
*sighs*
